Discrimination occurs in many sports, not just in football. Despite great progress in the UK, especially in fighting racism, there is still discrimination that must be fought whenever it surfaces. Nevertheless, even though great strides have been made there is no resource where people can easily and quickly access in depth information on discrimination in sport in Britain.We intend to fill that void.

Before the tournament England midfielder Sue Smith stressed how important that they qualified from the group stages for the knock-out phase. They reached the quarter-finals, losing 3-0 to the USA. FIFA had high hopes for the tournament. They believe that it was integral in developing interest in football throughout the world. “For us it is fundamental,” says the Special Delegate to the FIFA President, Jérôme Champagne. “We are convinced that we will see new powerhouses coming into the game. Germany will be very strong, but women’s football is making progress everywhere.”
